===== Prepare MacOS Flash Drive =====
The first step required is to format the USB Flash drive for the native OS. On MacOS follow the steps below.
- Insert the USB Flash drive into the computer
- Launch the Disk Utility app
- Select the search icon
- Type in "Disk Utility"
- Double click the Disk Utility result\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:du1.png |Find Disk Utility}}
- Select the USB Flash drive in the list on the right\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:du2.png |Select drive}}
- Select the Erase icon at the top\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:du3.png |Select erase}}
- Type in a name for the drive\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:du4.png |Name drive}}
- Select the "Mac OS Extended (Case-sensitive, Journaled)" option for the Format\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:du5.png |Select drive}}
- Click the "Erase" button\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:du6.png |Select drive}}
- When it's finished click the "Done" button and close the Disk Utility\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:du7.png |Select drive}}
===== Add MacOS Applications =====
The next step is to add the applications that are needed.
- Open a Finder window and select the USB Flash drive\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app1.png |Select drive}}
- Create a folder called "Applications"\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app2.png |New Applications Folder}}
- Download and install the Raspberry Pi Imager app
- Browse to [[https://www.raspberrypi.org/software/]] and download the latest version
- Open the downloaded image\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app3.png |Raspberry Pi Imager DMG}}
- Drag the Raspberry Pi Imager icon to the Applications folder on the USB Flash drive\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app4.png |Raspberry Pi Imager Installed}}
- Download and install the ApplePiBaker app
- Browse to [[https://www.tweaking4all.com/software/macosx-software/applepi-baker-v2/]] and download the latest version at the bottom of the page
- Open the downloaded image\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app5.png |ApplePiBaker DMG}}
- Drag the ApplePiBaker icon to the Applications folder on the USB Flash drive\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app6.png |ApplePiBaker Installed}}
- Download and install the Visual Studio Code app
- Browse to [[https://code.visualstudio.com]] and download the latest version
- Drag the downloaded file to the Applications folder on the USB Flash drive\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app7.png |Visual Studio Code Installed}}
- Create a new folder named "code-portable-data" next to the Visual Studio Code icon on the USB Flash drive\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app8.png |Visual Studio Code Data Folder}}
- Install required extensions in Visual Studio Code
- Open the Visual Studio Code app from the USB Flash drive
- Click on the extensions icon\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app9.png |VSCode Extensions}}
- Type "Python" in the search field\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app10.png |VSCode Extensions - Python}}
- Click the "Install" button for the Python extension\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app11.png |VSCode Extensions Python Install}}
- Type "C/C++" in the search field\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app12.png |VSCode Extensions - C/C++}}
- Click the "Install" button for the C/C++ extension\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app13.png |VSCode Extensions - C/C++ Install}}
- Type "Remote-SSH" in the search field\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app14.png |VSCode Extensions - Remote-SSH}}
- Click the "Install" button for the Remote - SSH extension\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app15.png |VSCode Extensions - Remote-SSH Install}}
- Close Visual Studio Code

- Open Safari and browse to the [[https://robot-club.jonathan.struebel-family.net/start|Robot Club]] home page
- Open a Finder window and select the USB Flash drive\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app2.png |USB Flash Drive Folder}}
- Select the web address at the top of the Safari window and drag it to the USB Flash drive in the Finder window\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app16.png |Safari - Robot Club}}
- Rename the shortcut to "Robot Club"\\ \\ {{ :pibot:flashdrive:app17.png |USB Flash Drive Folder}}
